This game lets you simulate a struggle to build a home for global warming refugees north of the Arctic Circle, on Russia’s Novaya Zemlya island.  The game starts after your daring band of environmental activists have captured Novaya Zemlya, and have set up refugee camps, offshore wind turbines and greenhouses.  Of course, Russia wants its island back, and is attacking Novaya Zemlya on multiple fronts.  To win, you will need to hold off the Russians for 100 turns.  To stop the Russians, you must develop new crops that grow fast in low light environments to feed your growing refugee population.  If you cannot take refugees off of the hands of nations further south, you will lose international support.  And you need international support to buy the weapons that you require to fight the Russians.  You will also need to counter Russian efforts to meddle in the internal politics of your allies and undermine international support for your cause.  Of course, you also need electricity to power your vertical farms and run your genetic research labs, so make sure that the Russians don’t capture too many of your offshore wind turbines.  The game’s card driven mechanics will let you figure out how to strike a balance between these competing priorities.  Good luck.

I find it impossible to understand this game as there is insufficient information given about the different values, what they mean and how they work....

I understand from the demo that some values are fixed and some are consumed, but I don't know what they mean.

Across the top I have 1/3 something, 3/4 something else, then the crop/food symbol, then 3/4, then a shaded box with 6 and a red i, then a 2 and then a 0. I have no idea what they represent and there is little information on the cards for me to understand the requirements or the benefits. I had two identical cards that I couldn't play, discarded one, but didn't realise the card I swapped it for I couldn't play either. When I play a card I try to see a change in the numbers but haven't spotted anything, although I know my shaded 6 has gone up...

I love the idea of this game but the execution doesn't allow me to have fun when playing it, I'm just confused. I'll give it another 10 minutes and if I don't give up I'll post again.

OK, so perhaps some symbols aren't displaying for me on Chrome, but I see the Key option and the top which has info, but I can't refer to that everytime to work out what something means, and I still don't know the mechanics or impact of one card v another.

Perhaps this game is trying to fit some complex ideas into a small and streamlined interface? I'm not sure, but it's not working for me even though I would like it to.
