It's a nice little tactical puzzle that has a really powerful 'David vs. Goliaph' power fantasy kinda vibe. It took me 2 attempts to figure out how the insurgence card works, but when I finally did it, the winning strategy immediately came together and the game became an easy ride. Emphasis on damaging the supply chains over the destruction of enemy units is realistic and makes this game similar to Go, among other things.
As for the reality of the war that this game is trying to portray, though, I have some doubts. Partisan movement is not as developed in our country as one might think, but I'm not a military expert to say this with any measure of credibility. Nevertheless, I liked that this game neither fetishizes the war nor dehumanizes Russians. In our time this is a lot.
Thanks! Always happy to have a game compared to Go. As I watch the demonstrations in Kerson, engineers destroying bridges, and the farmers stealing tanks with tractors, I get the sense that Ukrainians are rewriting the rules of partisan warfare before our eyes.
Hey, to every russian people visiting here. The world really does not want that war, and has no desire Russian people either. We would love to keep playing together !
Well. Honestly, what is going on is incredibly scarry for all Europe. I mean -deadly- scarry. I am convinced that one of the key to solve that, is to keep discussing between populations and reassure russian people that other european people don't want to hurt them. Even though, we -really- don't want to be "freed" either.
Enjoying this! Unfortunately the game got stuck at turn 16 and won't let me progress.. The end phase button won't press, and there's nothing else to do..
Alright, I played again and that bug didn't occur - victory! Really enjoyed the cleverness of timing when to cut off the enemies supply lines, and then coming in with forces to rebuild my own supply lines.. This is my first hex war game I've played, pretty cool! Feedback: The ai's strategy of going straight to take out my supply lines rather than attacking me inside my victory condition land feels questionable!
I played this a few more times to work on my strategy.. Sometimes the ai strategy worked really well and when it connected to supply to the north east and south it was really lethal.. Really fun to win though, though I suspect insurgency isn't quite as effective, once you get Russia cut off from it's supply, there's really no way for them to come back, since we get 4 insurgencies to their 1 counter insurgency.. Anyways, good work!

Wow! Thanks for flagging. Which browser?
Ah, Brave.. Looks like it was because I had "shields up" turned on, maybe blocking a font? Now it looks good, thanks!

Kind of eerie that this was made long before Russia officially sent troops into Ukraine.
